An elegant interpretation of a London institution, translated for a new destination.
Café Wolseley is a celebration of the heritage and glamour of the original Piccadilly institution, reimagined for a new audience in Oxfordshire. Commissioned by Corbin & King and designed by STUDIO Shayne Brady, the Bicester outpost captures the essence of the European-Grand style with a refined twist.

From the start, the challenge was clear: to echo the style and spirit of the original Wolseley without mimicking it. The studio reinterpreted classic 1920s design through a modern lens – retaining the signature monochrome flooring, black leather banquettes and lacquered tables while introducing new layers of warmth and detail. Red pillars nod to hidden archival touches and bespoke paintings inspired by the chinoiserie doors of the Piccadilly site build a subtle thread of continuity between the spaces.

Across the café, takeaway counter and retail boutique, the studio carefully curated a seamless narrative. The Counter features geometric stone flooring that mirrors the original London interiors, while the retail space invites guests to take a piece of the Wolseley home. A modern homage to legacy that appeals to new audiences.

“I couldn’t contemplate or imagine conceiving a restaurant without Studio Shayne Brady. Shayne Brady’s contribution to the success of Jeremy King Restaurants and Corbin & King has been fundamental for the last ten years”
