The Savoy, The Strand, WC2R 0EZ, London

STUDIO Shayne Brady was commissioned to reimagine Gallery, a much-loved space within the historic Savoy Hotel in London, transforming it into a vibrant all-day venue that transitions effortlessly from breakfast to post-theatre drinks.

The design demanded a balance: heritage and modernity, elegance and functionality, grandeur and intimacy. The space feels bright and inviting by day, then warm and atmospheric by night. A new marble “catwalk” was installed to guide guests from the entrance through to the Beaufort Bar and River Restaurant, improving circulation while offering those seated a calm, semi-private setting. A bespoke dome lighting system allows full control of ambiance, enabling the room to shift seamlessly with the seasons and times of day.

Every detail has been crafted to enhance comfort and character. Custom chandeliers, floor lamps and wrought-iron gates reinterpret traditional Savoy aesthetics, while blush and ochre upholstery, pale burl timber and soft lighting create a luxurious, tactile environment. A specially commissioned mural depicting the 1912 couple who invented the dinner dance pays tribute to the hotel’s heritage.

Today, Gallery supports continuous service, from breakfast through evening cocktails, elevating what was once a transitional area into a thriving destination that enriches the guest experience.
Every material and detail was chosen to enhance comfort, ease and ambiance, and Gallery has been embraced as a beloved part of the hotel’s next chapter.
